Yeah! We are home!!!!

I knew as soon as we could make it home that Kay would be the first one to greet Esme. She did not disappoint! Kay Kay came over with Kate and met the newest addition to the Cahoon Family. Shortly after Meg and Maddy stopped by. I was happy to introduce Esme to her new room and rock her in my favorite rocker of all time. We were pretty tired after a long day of traveling home, but it was good to settle into our home, and it feels wonderful to all be together. We love our quiet moments of snuggle time with Esme, she is a cuddle bug, and we love her!

Road Trip

We brought our little one home on the 30th. Driving with a newborn took us a little extra time. We needed to burp, feed, change, cuddle our little Esme, but of course she was awesome and was a super little traveler. She is such a good girl! Here we are with a feeding, burping session at Wendy's in Coeur D'Alene Idaho. James and I got a Frosty!

With Grandma and Grandpa Stovall in Montana

We were so blessed to get permission to leave Idaho on the 23rd. It was our second Christmas Miracle. Esme was our first Christmas Miracle! We went to Montana to spend time with Paige's Family. Everyone was there. There were 4 new babies added to the Stovalls in 2009, and we are so happy that Esme got to meet all of her cousins on the Stovall side. Because Esme is brand new, the kids Weren't allowed to touch her or be near her, but we did relax when it came to Grandma and Grandpa Stovall:)

We got our family picture taken with everyone, and Esme got to wear a cute little dress. I am still trying to figure out what to do with all of her hair. I am getting good at sticking a bow in her hair with a little Karo Syrup. She is a doll!

The picture of Esme in her little pink outfit is when Esme was letting us know she has a great set of lungs. She spit up on her outfit, and it seems we are endlessly changing her clothes as we try to figure out the best way to do things. Esme is always good, but she does hate getting her clothes changed, and diaper changed too...She likes to be all bundled up.

Bright Eyes

One thing we love about little Esme is her bright eyes and alertness. She is always looking around, everything is a discovery. She is pensive, and inquisitive, and we just think she is perfect. She is such a good girl, she sleeps like a dream, and just is so sweet when she gets up in the night. Everyone tells us..."just wait" but so far she has been awesome!!!!!

First Road trip,,,

Adoption has some interesting things that go along with it. One of those things is that if you adopt a baby in a state that you do not live in you have to receive clearance to leave that state. To receive clearance you need to have paperwork submitted and reviewed in the state that the child is born in and your home state. In our case Idaho and Washington. Sometimes this paperwork can take up to two weeks. With the holidays right in the middle of this process for us we were preparing for a long stay in Idaho Falls. But with the prayers and faith of many, and the hard work of others we were cleared to leave the state less than 48 hours after Esme was born. This meant that we were able to go Paige's family Christmas...which has been a great blessing. Here are a few pic's of our stop in West Yellowstone and our time so far in Bozeman.

Day Two

After a long night, which included Esme waking up many times and Paige and I trying to share a twin bed, we made it to day two. She loves to be wrapped up in her "Miracle Blanket", thanks Jaillyn! Here are a few more pictures of day two with Esme.

More Pictures of Esme

We love our little girl. We are at the Hospital where the connection is a little slow, so we are uploading pictures a little at a time. But we have an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the birthmother, and to our Heavenly Father who gave us the best Christmas gift of our lives!

Esme has arrived!

Paige and I are very excited to announce the arrival of our daughter, Esme Gayle Cahoon! She arrived last night at 8:54 PM. Her birth mother was a champion, of course, and Esme only needed three pushes to get out into the world. She weighed in at 7 pounds 8 ounces and she was 20" long. We could not be happier! Here are a few pictures of our first afternoon together....

Ashley's Visit to Seattle

Ashley came to see where Esme would grow up. We loved having her here.
