We decided to make an Esme Pumpkin. We carved big eyes, put on long eyelashes and put toothpicks in for "sticky - up" hair, and put in 3 bottom teeth.

So we start the day fully dressed. She had tights and some bloomers to go along with this dress. By the end of the day, I give up. But, I like the fact that her legs are so cute, and that she is so brave to be walking all over the place as long as she has a hold of something, and that you can see some Cheerio's have made it into the living room too.

Esme has been to a Zoo of some sort at least 4 times... however, it was pretty sweet to see the zoo with her cousins in Arizona. Here we are at the Phoenix Zoo. I love Olive's face. Jackson, Joss, Esme and Olive.Giraffes are pretty cool!

Unplanned trip to the A. Z.

When James's plans fell through for a trip to Arizona, he booked a ticket using sky miles, and we were off to Arizona in the same day. One of the days we went to Old Town Scottsdale.Esme needed to have a picture next to the Cactus!

First trip to In and Out Burger...I am sure there will be many more in her future.

Esme is on the move! Cruising is what it is called when they practically walk everywhere holding on to something. Here she is opening cabinets. So tricky.

This is how our little spider baby makes it around the house. She walks and holds on to the walls, cabinets, couches, basically whatever she can to move from point a to b to c to b to c to a...she is always on the move. I just took this little video today, the "Prince of Bel Aire" just happened to be on my ipod as it shuffled through all the songs I have.

My friend Stephanie and I went on a pumpkin adventure with our kids to the pumpkin patch. The first patch we tried, didn't work out, so we went to another "patch" where we ended up arranging the pumpkins we bought, in a field and took some photo's that way. Stephanie was a great photographer, and Esme hit her pumpkin thresh hold pretty quickly. But we did get some cute photo's.

My friend Kathy invited me and Esme to her Consumer living class to share what it is like to be a parent. Her students are getting ready to do their "baby unit." My favorite comment as kids walked into the classroom was "Hey, that's a real baby."

This is how Esme did most of the walk. Asleep. With her dad's rain jacket on her legs. This was Making Strides for Breast Cancer, a 5 K walk.Dr. Crossland, James, Me and Esme at the Overlake Tent before the 5 K walk. The Overlake team was called the "Dose Busters" headed by our fearless leader Sherri. It was pretty rainy when we got there, but about 10 minutes into the walk the rain practically left us, and we had a great walk.
After the walk we got a group picture of the folks we could round up:) Irene, Darren, Bella, Sherri, Me, Esme Dr. Crossland, and Judy.

Here you can see how proud of herself Esme is by pulling herself up.
As soon as Esme can get a hold of me, she pulls herself up on my legs. She is doing a lot of "cruising" which is getting around by holding on to things, like my legs, the ottoman, and the couches.
Esme hangs out with me while I pull weeds in the yard. She really enjoys being outside, and we take advantage of any sunny day.

Esme's First camping and Fishing trip

This is our annual fly fishing trip to the Big Horn River in Montana. Everyone set up camp before we arrived and Tricia got us some baby essentials, including a pac n play for Esme to hang out. We thought Esme was such a trooper. She loves to be outside and is pretty content with the camping experience. She didn't mind the dirt and the weather as much as her mom did!

This is Esme in her pac n play. You can see her little sheep skin in the bottom. We got that for her so that she wouldn't get cold at night in the tent. She slept like a champ...as usual!

Fishing the Big Horn!

Fly-Fishing in Montana is always fun. Esme was surrounded by lots of love on this trip. She didn't love her life vest, but she and her grandma managed to float down the river with Uncle Reid and Auntie Mishel on her first float of the Big Horn River. Everyone caught fish that was fishing, so that is good:) I thought I would indulge James and myself by including fish pictures.

This was part of the Cahoon Family Parade through Boston as we followed the Freedom Trail.
Connor was very sweet with Esme. Every time the stroller stopped, her cousins came to visit her. She is such a lucky girl.

We finally got some nice sunny days, so we visited a few outside pools! Kay invited us to theirs, Aunt Deborah invited us to theirs, and we also went to the Kirkland public pool. Esme really enjoyed the water, and it was fun to sit in the shallow end with her.

This is Esme's first boo boo on her nose. I felt TERRIBLE. Esme was sitting between my legs at the pool, she reached forward and before I could catch her, her nose scraped the cement. She was very upset, and so was I.

Last Tuesday was Esme's 6 month check up. As always she did great, and everything looks fine and dandy. She weighed in at 18 lbs and 12.5 oz. She is 25 inches tall, over 2 feet:) She got a shot in each leg and an oral vaccine too. I hate having her legs get poked, she screamed a bit, and then I picked her up and held her tight and she calmed down pretty quickly. She is such a brave girl. So I thought I would post the picture of her heart bandaids and how tricky she is at holding on to her feet.

After a very memorable 2 hour "Gates of the Mountains" boat tour, where Esme screamed her head off and Jordan yacked off the back of the boat to feed the fish, and we learned all sorts of educational information about the Missouri River (I felt bad for the rest of the passengers!) We went to a park near the Capital and Reid and Mishel's house in Helena. This is our happy baby after a very sad boat ride!

Visiting Great Grandma and Auntie Ann at the Cabin

Some of my favorite memories of the cabin are the buttercups and the dry pine needles that are scattered all through the woods at the cabin. Grandma used to have me go pick buttercups and other wild flowers, she would find an antique blue or green colored glass vase or pitcher where we would put the pretty buttercups. Esme tried to eat the buttercups the whole time, I guess she took butter quite literally.This picture was the closest one of the kids actually looking at me.

Sealing and Blessing May 15, 16 2010

What a special weekend for us all. We had a tremendous amount of love and support that was overwhelming and a great reminder about what is important in life. Family. Friends. The love of our Savior. The many blessings of happiness and goodness in our lives that we enjoy. Esme was sealed for Time and all Eternity to James and me on Saturday morning. We were in the sealing room with those we love, and who love us. Esme was beautiful, sweet, good, and alert. It was a wonderful moment of what truly matters in life. James gave her a blessing in church on Sunday, and it was a spiritual experience as well. It was a beautiful weekend. Thanks to all for the love and support.

Today was our special Day. It is sunny and bright. Esme was a perfect angel and was pleasant all morning. She got a bath this morning so she could feel her freshest and cleanest and best. She was looking her best with a sweet little dress and blue shoes and a bow in her hair. We picked up Kay on the way to the courthouse. There was another family there adopting a little girl too. The courtroom was small and the judge was nice. The attorney that represented us was named Andrew. He was very nice too. The actual event lasted only about 5 minutes in front of the Judge. We got some pictures with him behind his desk, then we got the official documents that name James and me Esme's parents. It was a great day!

We stayed with our dear friends Blake and Stephanie who have 3 kids. Their youngest, Grant is just 6 weeks older than Esme. So it was nice that they could get acquainted:) They live in a cute little apartment in Brooklyn so we crossed the Brooklyn Bridge with 4 kids in tow. We went down to get a ticket to see the Statue of Liberty and we saw this gi-normous line, which ended up being over 2 hours long...and they weren't letting people up the Statue of Liberty once you got there, so we just took a picture from Battery Park, and let the kids run around there.

Esme's first trip on a Plane

Esme rode on a Boeing 737-900 from the East Coast to the West Coast at 100 days old! She was fabulous. We rode Alaska Airlines, and they accommodated by blocking out the middle seat. She was pleasant and in a good mood most of the way. She slept for about 2 hours total of the 5.5 hour trip. She was an awesome traveler. She fussed a bit before she fell asleep, but not for too long, so it was an adventure from the start.

We love finding treasures in our hand me downs from Jane...THANKS! These bloomers could quite possibly be one of my favorites for Esme. This is the outfit she wore when she went to IJH. Such a cutie pie, everyone at school fussed over her, and she was of course, on her best behavior. It's always good to have an Esme Smile too...
